What Google Says It Wants From Your Content (Straight From the Source)

A few random things about me because I realized I talk about websites and branding all the time and not always enough about the actual person behind Thrive 😂

I’m a lifelong follower of Christ, married to my high school sweetheart, and currently very much in my first-time boy mom era. 🤍

I’d choose sweats and a messy bun over getting dressed up basically any day of the week, I drink way too much coffee, I love a good PSL, and I’ve watched The Office so many times at this point that I honestly couldn’t even tell you the real number. 😂

I love cooking and trying new recipes, I’m obsessed with all things design and business, and I am absolutely the person who needs to understand the why behind the why before something fully clicks for me.

Which, now that I think about it, probably explains a lot about how I run Thrive too. 😂 I don’t really like doing things just because “that’s how it’s done.” I want things to make sense, have a purpose, and actually work for the business behind them.

So anyway, hi. I’m Angel. 👋🏼

Designer, business owner, wife, mom, coffee drinker, chronic overthinker, and the designer & owner behind Thrive Design Co.

Getting found is only the first half of the job.

You can rank beautifully on Google, show up in local search, and get plenty of eyes on your business— but then what happens when someone actually clicks?

They’re looking at your reviews.
Your photos.
Your website.
Your services.
Your pricing (or lack of it).
Your social presence.
How current everything feels.
And whether the whole thing gives them enough confidence to take the next step.

Because showing up first doesn’t automatically mean getting chosen.

Recent consumer research found that only 6% of people simply chose the top local search result. Most people kept evaluating— looking at things like reviews, ratings, photos, pricing, location, and how complete the business’s online presence felt.

That’s why SEO and branding/web design shouldn’t be treated like separate strategies...

SEO helps people find you. Your online presence helps them decide whether they trust you.

You need both. ✌🏼

I wrote more about this— including what customers are actually paying attention to after they find your business, in my latest blog post that will be going up tomorrow! 💻
